Bishop Hurdley Mitchell founded the First Holiness Church of the Living God on March 5th, 2000 holding the first service in his home. There were 16 members at that service, who are still affiliated with the church. The church's membership outgrew Bishop Hurdley's home and later outgrew Pastor Copeland's home which was the second location, his enclosed patio. This led to the church's subsequent move to the first storefront location on April 30, 2000 and a larger storefront location later.

The church membership continued to grow further with God's help leading up to the membership's purchase of a 3 bedroom house on five acres of land now housing the First Holiness Church, 13095 Okeechobee Blvd, in Loxahatchee, Florida. The building was first remodeled to accommodate a sanctury, an office, kitchen and bathrooms and Sunday school room. Over the years, the church has experienced various challenges, developments, opportunities and accomplishments. Despite many obstacles, our new sanctuary is now complete. Since the completion of our new sancutary we have had 4 baptisms and one baby dedication and an averageof 130 members. The Bishop, First Lady, members and friends of First Holiness Church of the Living God give God praise for what he has done and what he has promised in the years ahead.
